SNEAK PEEK: JESSICA & BRYAN’S GLAMOROUS MINNEAPOLIS WEDDING

We are SO excited about Jessica & Bryan’s wedding this past weekend!! J&B were so natural in front of our cameras as we created images with them around the Graves 601 hotel in downtown Minneapolis, and we are still in awe of the beauty that Jessica’s Mom, owner of the lovely Lexington Floral, put together to make their wedding day so glamorous! Lots more to come from their wedding day, but for now… a little sneak peek :)

Kelly & Andy | Woodsy Wisconsin Engagement

Last week we hiked around Rib Mountain State Park with Kelly & Andy. If we are being honest, it felt more like the four of us were just out laughing our way through the woods! We could tell that K&A were completely relaxed and at ease in front of our cameras, and nothing is more rewarding to us than knowing that the images we are capturing represent exactly who they are as a couple. Kelly & Andy will be getting married this summer in northern Wisconsin and we couldn’t be more excited for them!

We completely look forward to them and love the opportunity to really get to know our couples + create beautiful images with them before their wedding day :) Because these sessions are such a bright spot on our calendars, we wanted to share a few of our favorites from 2011. 2011 | WHAT a YEAR!

Phewf! Here we sit, in 2012, looking back at an incredible 2011. It is so hard to put to words all of the goodness and goofiness that we soaked in over the last year, but we’re going to give it a shot :) in 2011, we:

Started the year living in Wisconsin and found comfort in the fact that this is where we plan to spend the rest of our picture-taking years :)

Set optimistic dreams for ourselves, and worked from our heart to make them a reality!

Made new friends who we are so grateful for! We love escaping what can sometimes feel like a crazy schedule to spend time with people who make us laugh!!

Photographed amazing couples in love all over Minnesota and Wisconsin :)

Had our couples featured on 7 different wedding blogs and published in 4 magazines!

Attended WPPI for the very first time in Las Vegas, and maximized the trip by photographing a styled shoot & attending the Making Things Happen Intensive!

Realized that even though we take pictures for amazing people all the time, we can’t forget to photograph the silly nothings that make our lives special too :)

Used too many exclamation points in all of our blog posts… we hope you don’t mind! ;)

Traveled to Chicago, Louisville, Omaha, Tulsa, Playa del Carmen, Ear Falls Canada, Door County (lots!), and Las Vegas!

Opened our very first studio in Wausau’s adorable downtown! We are super excited about this and will be sharing much more about our new studio in the coming weeks!

… It’s easy to look back at the year that was and think: Gosh! We took a lot of pictures! … But then we think back to each beautiful wedding day we were a part of, and we are reminded how truly blessed we are! We met and connected with not just our brides & grooms, but their lovely families and crazy friends too! We are so lucky to live and work in this incredibly rewarding industry together. All day, every day we are able to do what we love together, and we have our clients to thank for that!! Thank you for an awesome 2011!!! :D

ASHLEY & ADAM | ST PAUL ENGAGEMENT

We absolutely love it when couples use their engagement session to introduce us to locations that are meaningful to the two of them. Ashley and Adam did just that, and the ease with which they loved on each other in front of our cameras was effortless. From the moment we first met A&A just off of the whimsical Grand Avenue area of St Paul, we felt giddy behind our cameras :) He’s witty and charming. She’s stunningly beautiful and so sweet. And together with their golden doodle named Chloe, they are about to start a life that almost seems like a fairytale. We are over the moon about the images we created with them on a perfectly crisp Sunday morning and cannot wait to photograph their wedding next month!

BECKY & CHRIS | CENTRAL COAST WEDDING

Spending time with Becky and Chris guarantees at least two things: a constant smile on your face and a happy heart. The reasons for this are simple – they radiate positive energy, they are full of laughter, and they have two of the biggest hearts we have ever met! With this in mind, we knew that they would shine even brighter on their wedding day.

On December 3rd, it rained for the majority of the day except for the perfectly timed hour when we were outside creating their portraits. We even had a few incredible moments of sunshine! With or without the sun poking through the rain clouds for those few minutes, Becky and Chris’ faces were absolutely glowing. But in that moment, while we wanted to be doing backflips while taking their picture in the middle of the street on a stone bridge against the most beautiful rays of sunlight, the two of them were lost in their own moment, completely soaking in their perfect day.

Given the time of year and early fading light, Becky & Chris chose to see each other before their ceremony. Their first look was truly one of the cutest we have ever witnessed!!

Becky, you made SUCH a beautiful bride!!

These were the moments where we wanted to do backflips & cartwheels behind our cameras. LOVE!

Becky and Chris, photographing your wedding was the perfect way to end our 2011 wedding season! Your love is such an inspiration, and we are so grateful to have been part of your celebration. We couldn’t possibly be more happy for the two of you. Happy one month wedding anniversary!

We hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday thus far!! We have been very busy little elves at the McCartney studio preparing packages for our lovely clients and awesome family members… We even managed to get most of our holiday cards out just before Christmas, can we get a WOOT! :) Now we’re off to drive our sleigh around the state of WI to visit both of our families and enjoy a nice long week off. KATIE & BRYANT | SNOWY WISCONSIN ENGAGEMENT

Katie’s older brother, Brian, and his lovely wife, Sara, happen to be two of our very best friends. When they wanted to surprise Katie & Bryant with a surprise engagement session, we were on board right away! :) The idea was for Brian to photograph them around downtown Wausau on the first snowy day… then we would “randomly” show up and decide we wanted to take their picture too! Well, the plan worked perfectly last Friday afternoon and we had so much fun braving the cold for a beautiful session with them!! Katie and Bryant are absolutely adorable together, and being part of their surprise session was the highlight of our day!!!
