Last week we hiked around Rib Mountain State Park with Kelly & Andy. If we are being honest, it felt more like the four of us were just out laughing our way through the woods! We could tell that K&A were completely relaxed and at ease in front of our cameras, and nothing is more rewarding to us than knowing that the images we are capturing represent exactly who they are as a couple. Kelly & Andy will be getting married this summer in northern Wisconsin and we couldn’t be more excited for them!

Engagement sessions are pure fun! We completely look forward to them and love the opportunity to really get to know our couples + create beautiful images with them before their wedding day :) Because these sessions are such a bright spot on our calendars, we wanted to share a few of our favorites from 2011. ASHLEY & ADAM | ST PAUL ENGAGEMENT

We absolutely love it when couples use their engagement session to introduce us to locations that are meaningful to the two of them. Ashley and Adam did just that, and the ease with which they loved on each other in front of our cameras was effortless. From the moment we first met A&A just off of the whimsical Grand Avenue area of St Paul, we felt giddy behind our cameras :) He’s witty and charming. She’s stunningly beautiful and so sweet. And together with their golden doodle named Chloe, they are about to start a life that almost seems like a fairytale. We are over the moon about the images we created with them on a perfectly crisp Sunday morning and cannot wait to photograph their wedding next month!

KATIE & BRYANT | SNOWY WISCONSIN ENGAGEMENT

Katie’s older brother, Brian, and his lovely wife, Sara, happen to be two of our very best friends. When they wanted to surprise Katie & Bryant with a surprise engagement session, we were on board right away! :) The idea was for Brian to photograph them around downtown Wausau on the first snowy day… then we would “randomly” show up and decide we wanted to take their picture too! Well, the plan worked perfectly last Friday afternoon and we had so much fun braving the cold for a beautiful session with them!! Katie and Bryant are absolutely adorable together, and being part of their surprise session was the highlight of our day!!!

CAMI & DAN | AIRPLANE ENGAGEMENT SESSION

From the moment Cami and Dan booked us for their wedding, we were looking forward to not just their wedding day, but especially their engagement session. Dan is a pilot and we were so excited to work his plane into their portraits, since we’re pretty sure the plane won’t be any part of their wedding day transportation ;)

Their engagement story is one of the most unique we have ever heard and, naturally, it involves an airplane. They set out on a flight to the Oshkosh airport just as they had for their first dinner date and at the landing, the crew members had a sign that said “Cami, look at Dan!” Just as she turned his way, he proposed! If this doesn’t sound straight out of a movie, we don’t know what does!

Last week we met Cami and Dan at the Wausau airport on a chilly afternoon and created images with them that have us swooning. We cannot wait to be part of their wedding day next September!

JEN & JEFF | STEVENS POINT ENGAGEMENT

We met with Jen & Jeff earlier this fall and left our coffee date with the biggest smiles on our faces — These two are absolutely adorable together! They met while attending UWSP, so we were thrilled when they wanted to incorporate that area into their engagement photos. We started out at the Starbucks where they had their very first date and then ventured over to the beautiful Schmeekle Reserve. As we were on our way to Point we noticed that a few clouds were heading in the same direction, and luckily they gave us enough rain to make for some awesome portraits followed by a rainbow, and then they disappeared :) We are so looking forward to Jen & Jeff’s Green Bay wedding in May!

KRIS & NICK | DOOR COUNTY ENGAGEMENT

Kris and Nick met us at Peninsula State Park to create these fun engagement portraits just a couple weeks ago – we had a blast rolling around in the leaves, climbing the tower, and venturing to one of the County’s most beautiful spots with them! Thank you two + Carl for spending the afternoon with us – we are already looking forward to your wedding next summer!!

KAYLA & ALEX | MINOCQUA CABIN ENGAGEMENT

We first got to know Kayla and Alex during a Skype meeting… except, it didn’t go quite as planned. They could see us but we couldn’t see them! After sharing stories and many laughs, we were thrilled when they let us know that we would have the honor of photographing their wedding day :)

Kayla and Alex met on the first day of college their freshman year, started dating a few months later, and have been together ever since. On their last day of class senior year, K&A went for one last walk around the lake near campus as they often did. With great planning, Alex’s friend hid behind trees to capture his proposal to Kayla!

K&A invited us to Alex’s parents cabin which is truly one of those hidden gems in the Northwoods. We were blessed to photograph a seriously adorable couple on a lake surrounded by glowing trees & beautiful late afternoon light, and we are SO excited to be part of their MN wedding next July!

BRITTANY & KAREEM | CHICAGO ENGAGEMENT

We knew right away why Kareem asked Brittany to be by his side for the rest of his life… Brittany’s personality shines equally as bright as his. Which says a lot because I’ve know Kareem for years and when he walks into the room you know it! Being around the two of them is fun and easy. Brittany’s smile is perfectly matched by Kareem’s and their laughter seems never ending. Brittany works in Indianapolis as a television sports reporter and Kareem covers the Packers for the Green Bay Press Gazette. When we decided to meet in Chicago (And you say Chi City!) for their session it was only natural that Soldier Field was involved, and nearby Grant Park gave us a perfect Chicago backdrop.

Being able to photograph Brittany and Kareem for their engagement has been an honor. Kareem has been a close friend for years and we are so happy he has found Brittany. The two of them marry next year in Baltimore on the 6th of July, and we have no doubt it will be the celebration of celebrations.

NIKKI & JOE | WAUSAU ENGAGEMENT

Nikki and Joe are the kind of couple whose warmth and sincerity is felt the moment you are in their presence. Any topic of conversation is welcome, laughter is inevitable, and they are naturals in front of the camera. Granite Peak provided us with beautiful fall color and a dreamy sun-shower shooting through the trees. To be honest, we really didn’t want their session to end! Nikki and Joe are high school sweethearts, and the ease with which they adore each other translates into authentic, beautiful photographs.

Thank you, Nikki and Joe, for choosing us to photograph your smiling faces :) We adore the two of you and cannot wait for your wedding next September!
