mettie and nate have one of the cutest love stories: they met in the dorms laundry room her freshman year in college. she thought he was so cute, and sent him a message on facebook. three years later they met for dinner at Applebees on a super snowy night. nate was 30 minutes late for dinner because he was helping people get out of the ditch. mettie waited because she couldn’t wait to get to know him.
that brings us to november 27th, their wedding day, and our last 2010 wedding! we got together with mettie quite a bit during her planning and were so looking forward to their door county wedding day all year long because we knew just how much these photos would mean to her. the girls got ready at cornerstone suites which had special meaning to miss mettie, as it was like her second home growing up; she was even named after the owner :) the cornerstone made for an ah-ma-zing “getting ready” location and we were giddy with the endless possibilities for photos — both inside and out! m&n had a first look {yayyyy!!} which we absolutely adored because it gave us infinitely more portrait time with the two of them on every inch of the cornerstone’s beautiful property! from the perfectly weathered and colorful exterior of the building to the surrounding land, we were in absolute heaven. after an intimate and touching ceremony at stella maris catholic church, we stole the newlyweds and headed to the bjorklunden for some early evening portraits – of course it was dark by this point, so what we’re really saying is we busted out our flashes and had a little fun playing outside of our element! mettie and nate celebrated the night away with their closest friends and family at a cozy log den reception.

mettie and nate were able to enjoy nearly every room in the cornerstone which meant we had lots of places to play with her gorgeous dress & details!

mettie’s vintage style diamond ring was stunning!

:)

nate’s tux was AWESOME! so stylish, and loads of fun to photograph

*first look*

how cute are these two!

so pretty, miss mettie!

keeping in mind that this was november 27th and we were out taking pictures in 20-some degree weather, we were seriously impressed with how well m&n were able to put up with the cold!

we could have taken their portrait all. day. long!

sweet moments with mettie’s niece and “best girl” :)

such a happy bride & proud father

m+n each wrote their own vows, both referencing special biblical passages

the perfectly selected red bridesmaid dresses added just the right amount of color to this photo :)

at the bjorklunden…

we taste a fair amount of wedding cake, and must say that mettie and nate’s was delish!

m+n invited their guests to ask them a question — if they responded with the same answer on their ping pong paddle, they smooched! this was a fun twist on the typical glass clinking, and they gave us plenty of entertaining expressions while they pondered :)

we thought it fitting to end their wedding post with a few of our favorite portraits from the bjorklunden…

mettie and nate, we are so happy for the two of you and could not have ended our wedding season with a more perfect couple!! thank you!
