Last summer we photographed Sara & Ryan’s engagement session at Lake Calhoun and had been looking forward to their Wausau wedding ever since. Naturally, we started with the two of them getting ready. While I was with the girls, Butch went to meet the guys — can I just say that we love when brides & grooms plan like this?! After some gorgeous country-road pictures of the girls with a crazy sky in the background, we continued on to the church where the guys were having their own little photo session with Butch. After we were sure that Ryan was 100% completely out of sight and tucked away in the church, we hid Sara so no one would get a glimpse of her until she walked down the aisle. And so began the service where one of their friends sang & played the electric guitar — such a sweet twist on a Catholic ceremony! Our first photo stop was Fern Island, which is among our favorite Wausau spots to photograph bridal parties. We had them dancing their way across the industrial bridge before we stole Sara & Ryan and let them play in front of our cameras. From there, they hopped back into their limo-suv-bus and jammed to the wedding day mixes Ryan created before taking a pit-stop at Wausau’s best pub — malarkey’s! — for a pre-reception drink. The celebration continued at the jefferson street inn where they lined the ceiling with white chinese lanterns and really brought their personality into the reception — the details alone were stunning! Each table had a different floral centerpiece. Loved the peonies!! all of the dreamy light coming into the 2nd story ballroom highlighted all of the planning they put into their day. Sara and Ryan, we feel so lucky to have been able to capture all of the love surrounding you on your wedding day!!
We adored Sara & Ryan’s church, and it just got better as you stepped inside! Who doesn’t love brick in pictures?
