BIG NEWS | WE’RE MOVING!

It’s official, we will be relocating permanently to Wisconsin as of July 1st! We’ll be moving casually the month of June, saying a sad goodbye to Woodbury and firm hello to Wausau. For those of you who don’t know, we were both born & raised in Wisconsin – Butch in Door County and myself in Wausau, which is also where we met & got married! While we’ve been living in Minnesota we have also maintained business in Wisconsin, as we are there all of the time to visit family anyways, so the transition back should be quite comfortable! Though we aren’t moving for another month or so, we thought we’d clue you in right away & elaborate on our choice to move with our top 5 lists :)

Top 5 things we’ll miss most about living in Woodbury

5.  Shopping opportunities – From camera equipment to clothes, we have been spoiled by having them in such a close proximity for the last 19 months!

4.  Shooting locations – Hudson and Stillwater quickly became  a few of our favorite spots to take portraits of any kind.

3.  Entertainment – Concerts & sporting events right in our backyard! We’ve been fortunate to catch a great variety of concerts and games while we’ve been here! Twins vs Yankees, the Wailers, John Mayer, etc. And this year is probably the best the Twin Cities will ever see concert-wise… Mayer, Amos Lee, Dave Matthews Band, Tom Petty AND Jack Johnson all within 6 months of one another!

2.  Restaurants – Yep, that’s right. We love trying new restaurants & happy hours and have fallen in love with many of the Twin Cities’ wine bars/bistros! Domacin, spill the wine, the prohibition bar & la grolla to name a few :)

1.  Friends & family – we’ve met some pretty awesome people while living here and have had so much fun living in the same town as Susan! {Susan is my aunt, maid of honor, and one of both of our best friends!}

Here’s a snapshot of us enjoying a happy hour at Pazzaluna with Susan just last month in St Paul!

Top 5 things we’re excited about in Wausau

5.  Part of us knew deep down that we would eventually move back to Wisco, we just didn’t know when that would be. But the fact that we’re moving now means we are that much closer to finding a home we love enough to buy and to getting a dog!

4.  Comfort & Familiarity – Wausau is where we fell in love. It’s where we explored parts of town together and had our first coffee date, first movie date, first cook-out, first anniversary celebration, engagement celebration and wedding celebration!

3.  It’s central – Anytime anyone asks us where Wausau is, we simply whip out our hand and point to the very center of it, explaining that wausau is smack-dab in the middle of the state. Corny as it sounds, we do. This location is ideal because we can get basically anywhere in two hours – Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis — you name it, we can probably get there in 120 minutes — especially if Butch is driving! ;)

2.  Community – Wausau’s events calendar is something to write home about, especially during the summer months! The 400 block is a big open grassy square in the middle of downtown – this is the home for many events such as concerts on the square, farmers markets, harvest fest, exhibit tour and many more. The Grand Theater, CVA and Woodson Art Museum are a few of our other favorites.

1.  Family! Living in Wausau puts us just minutes from the Martins {my parents} and 2 hours from the McCartneys {Butch’s parents} in Door County. Random cook-outs & get-togethers are really what we look forward to and who better than with your family! For the record, our parents are pretty excited we’re moving closer to them too :)

Here’s a shot of us at one of the Concerts on the Square last summer – we might just be there every Wednesday this summer!

This is one more view of the concert on the square. It’s a bring your lawn chairs & blankets and have a picnic with your friends & family kind of gathering, and we hope to see you there! ;)
